I lost Karamel this morning. Extremely sudden. Only thing that stood out is that she kept not going into the coop at night since we started treating the coop for bloodlice. She is, or well was, practically blind in one of her eyes. Thought maybe the scent of the insecticide threw her off. Either...
Alright. After a night indoors, spinach and sugar water, Pudding is doing good. Swollen head isn't as obvious, honestly unsure what that was. Whole coop is being treated for bloodlice and the chickens themselves will be cleansed when they're a little less anxious from the weird smell. Pudding...
There's a spoonfull of sugar in her water. I'll try to get her to eat some apple later, she always loves that stuff.
Edit: put some more sugar and spinach in the water and she is enjoying it loads, will update more later.
I've offered her some spinach, she's not very interested so far. Got her to drink a few gulps of water at least. Will get some cooked ground beef for her later if she's still rejecting, will check for some watermelon as well.
Something that might also have impacted her immune system (most definitely) is that we have those bloodlice. My parents decided to try to fight them with vinegar mixed with water first, but seem to have realized this just isn't enough. We will be investing in insecticide, hopefully that get's...
Hey everyone.
This post concerns my almost four year old bantam cochin, Pudding. My dad found her this morning and said she looked ill so he isolated her. I took a look and she's definitely not herself. She's usually a bit timid but has some sass in her, loves eating those dried worms. She...
Getting the egg out definitely helped. When I woke up she was awake and alert, telling me to give her food. She's back out with her sisters now and pretty much back to her ususal self. Will make sure she gets some extra calcium the next few days. Thanks everyone for input!
Well! Heard a ruckus and got up to find her outside, she managed to nudge open the little door that I didn't close properly. I thought she was having some sort of attack but when I held her for a minute. Poof! A very soft shelled egg. Hopefully getting this out will help her feel better.
Had her drink quite a few spoonfuls of it. Sometimes after a sip she'd do a weird little grunt or squeak but didn't show discomfort. She's comfortable on a towel in a little transport cage I use for my cat, out on the attic landing where it's definitely warmer than outside. It's 1;30 Am now so I...
She just did the first big poop in hours. Smells godawful. She took a few sips of water with some sugar and tiiiny bit of salt. Now dozing off standing up.
Can't really feel anything weird. When I listen real close there's a slight wheezing sound. No super weird smell. Just kinda smells like always, like seeds/bread-ish.
No interest in the water at all. Her crops pretty empty, I think there's some seeds in there. She started laying eggs again after a few months off. It's been very strange weather. Wind/rain/ice/snow. She's very eager usually so I doubt she didn't get enough food and water.
Hey everyone. Just in advance, English isn't my first language so I hope I come across correctly.
This post concerns my bantam cochin, Cupcake. She's a little older than 3 now and usually a very active lady. This afternoon she was very energetic and happy to receive a little snack. But when I...
