Awesome! I saw the email today saying that I was now a member of the "Exclusive 6 Year Club" and thought.. "Wow, I have had chickens that long?"
BYC was a most incredible internet find for me, so THANK YOU for this website.
I still come in from time to time when looking for answers, but I...
He was definitely a HE. And best I remember the other was a pullet. I have hatched more since this and have tried different sexing methods. For a while I thought maybe coloring had something to do with it. Nope. I tried to sex them by their wings, but can never remember the rule of thumb...
an update.... at various times that day I would check on momma and take her a little food. She would just eat it most times.... but once when I took it out, she started calling to chicks. 2 more babies had hatched, so I came inside and took the first two back to her and snuck them back under...

As for being separated from them.. she has been in the house in a dog crate being totally babied ever...
She is skin, bones and feathers. They have not run out of food, so I am confused by the whole thing. It HAS to be worms.
Her crop is normal.. I have been feeling to see if it is impacted. hard to say when she last laid an egg because there is another hen with her.
My guess, though , is about...
