    How does genetics affect issues other than color? Say, egg size or laying ability? Doe the female or male determine these factors, or is it unpredictable?     Ive never had a cat kill more than one bird ....per cat of course! I have had coons kill everything in the coop just for the heck of it.

    Key West Chickens

    We are in the process of thinning out the herd and currently have 8 eight week old Key West chickens we are need to rehome. We are 99% certain that 7 are female and 1 is male. Location is Haines City Florida. oh...almost forgot...local pick-up only!

    Besides silkies are there other chickens with black skin? We just aquired a hen that is shaped like a game, has black skin a rather large comb for a game which is black/purple. Her plumage is all black with a small amount of gold under her "chin" and is a fairly large bird?

    Why do I feel like I'm mistreating them?

    Dont feel bad! We have 20 that has a 200 sq ft coop and a 1200 sq ft run and we still feel sorry for them! To make things worse, they free range every other day all day long......now that I think about it , heck, those chickens have a better deal than I do!

    Wanted: Big rooster, southwest florida

    We have a nice Cochin Rooster. He is about 11 months old. You can have him if you want, but we are in Haines City. My parents wanted chickens and now they want to travel so we are helping them to find him a home. : )

    Unfortunately . Illinois is a preemption state. Basically, this means that a county or city can make any law they wish . Example, Illinois law says that you can own/purchase handguns(sort of).....Chicago says that you cant. As opposed to say, Florida where the state says you can own a weapon...
