That’s what I was afraid of. She was a later addition and has never fully assimilated. It just seemed so evenly affected that I wasn’t sure it could be from pecking.
Any ideas what I’m dealing with here. My buff has had feather loss for some time now. I have a small flock of 4. No other birds affected. She is laying and acting normal. Today I noticed the patchy area on her back was inflamed. I do not see any evidence of mites or lice. I’m not sure whether...
Ugh...there are not any other contenders....I'm a little concerned about the polish with those wattles and not laying....but neither is really dispositive at this time. Ive read polish can lay late and hens do get wattles. i don't see pointy saddle feathers either.
I cracked open an egg today and saw a white bullseye. I didn’t think I had a rooster! Is this a fertilized egg and if so, which bird could it be. I only have 4 and I have seen 2 lay. 17 week old buff and a 23 week old polish are the only contenders.
Does this look comb look pale and dry? I’m a newbie and my buff’s comb seems awfully pale to me. She is apprx 17 weeks. She was a solo that I added to an existing flock of 3 (have had her since she was 5 weeks or so) and while the tolerate her she isn’t well integrated in the flock and usually...
I’ve noticed that she is last to go into the coop at night and walks the perimeter as if to check and make sure everyone is in an safe. Weird behavior for a hen?
No I have 3 16 week old pullets that bully her. That’s why her beak is all scabbed. I thought we were making progress. But the beak incident occurred when the wouldn’t let her in the coop one evening.
Also if it matters she is extremely friendly. She has been rejected by older flock and I had rehome the other half of her pair as a roo. She is very attached to us. She spends a lot of time inside with us.
I’m new to chickens this year and I have a questionable buff Orpington that some of you thought was looking roo-ish. Can someone tell me in these are saddle feathers coming in? She is almost 10 weeks. She also has two tail feathers with brown lacing. I feel like I never guess right on the...
Hmmm. I didn’t think the comb was that large. The other half of her pair had a very large and developed comb which was clearly a cockerel. It may look a little pinker in the pics because she was a little agitated with me trying to hold her and get a pic. I guess time will tell! I hope it’s not a...
I’m sorry I posted this in the wrong forum so this is a repost. I will try to delete my earlier post. I have a 8 1/2 week old buff. I thought she was a hen but she is developing long tail feathers that look a little pointy to me. Any thoughts?
