    Duckling help! Newbie & I inherited one.

    He does not need a pool. I brood ducks and chicks together. You will have to watch because ducks grow faster then chicks so make sure when he gets bigger he doesn’t squish anyone. Also ducks do better with friends of their own breed. That will be something to look at in the future.

    You’ve got a roo. Pointy saddle feathers. And way too young to be a “head hen”.

    Easter Egger, boy or girl?

    I actually say hen as well. Two of my Easter egger hens had longer curved tail feathers. I am no where near an expert though.

    I am unsure what breed this is.

    I got this hen as a chick from my local feed store. She was in a tank labeled “Mixed Ornamental Chickens”. My daughter picked her because she was the smallest one. She looked like a black cotton ball. After looking it up I think she is a Campine. Can anyone tell me with more confidence?

    Does my baby duck need help?

    I have a silkie hen sitting on some duck eggs. Three of them pipped on Tuesday (today is Thursday) one hatched no problems but two are still in the shell. One is missing a chunk of shell but the membrane is completely intact. It is white and fairly stiff. Should I make a small hole in it for him...

    Black Cochin cockerel or hen?

    This is my first time owning a black Cochin. I cannot tell if he is a male or female. I thought my flock was all females but we were on vacation for a few days and when I came home and got the eggs from under a broody hen (our caretaker was too scared to reach under her) they were fertalized...
