My hen had a swollen scabby vent plugged with poo I’ve been soaking keeping it clean but today she’s been pushing and making a sad noise so I soaked her twice massaging she would try to push still but nothing. I put lubricant around her vent and even tried to clean out poop in vent. Any ideas or...
I have a brown Brahma bantie hen who was looking fluffed up and she did go a little runny poop and I put her in small cage with heat and water and food just to observe her and today her croup is hard as a rock. I was wondering if anyone can give me direction on how to get it moving and loosened up.
thanks for all your help. She seems back to herself and the abdomen has shrunken and hopefully this will be gone by the weekend. She is acting normal and eating and pecks at me when I go to pet her. She seems to have her spunk back. Thanks again.
She is eating and acting fine other than she still has swelling but it has gone down some since he gave her the shots. He checked her for an egg but could not feel one. Said it was probably in there to far to feel. That is why he gave the shots. I have soaked her 3 times a day to help her...
I have given my hen another shot of the calcium to help rid her of the egg but nothing yet. Her abdomen is getting less tight. I have still been soaking her to maybe relax and loosen the egg. Still hoping she will pull through.
Thanks so much, I took her by my vet today and he gave her a calcium shot with something else to help her pass the egg. I have still been soaking her and if she is not better tomorrow he gave me another shot for tomorrow. I hope she comes out of it. Heres praying. thanks
Well I have soaked her twice. I notice that she has quite a bit of swollen around that area below the duct.I tryed to go in the duct but cant get in even with lubricant. I think if I cant get it out I will take her to my vet and let him show me how to deal with this..for future egg bounders...

Well I soaked her for 15 minutes and brought her in the house to get her really warm. She stands like a pengiun poor thing. She seems to look like she is breathing harder than normal. I will leave her alone this evening then maybe try again. thanks
it feels swollen hard and very warm. I feel so bad for her. Do you know what the symtoms are for egg impaction. Shes eating and just breathing a little hard. The swelling starts after the legs and go towards her vent
My chicken is swollen in the abdoman area. I dont think it has to do with her crop. I think she has an egg in there or something going on. why do you think it has to do with her crop? Thanks for the help.
I would love to know what to do for an egg bound chicken. She is uner the heatlamp and still eating. Breathing a little heavy. I noticed her swelling wednesday. Would love some suggestions. She is about 2 yrs old
