Hi All, just thought I'd give you an update... So we got our new giant pol hens on Wednesday and they're ginormous! I set up two runs next to each other, and for the first day they totally just ignored each other.
On the second day, I opened the door between the runs, so they could ignore each...
Oh, please, don't interrupt my frantic half-arsedness with your practical considerations!:sick:lau
You're right, of course, but when I use the word 'ambitious', please be aware that this means ambitious by *my* standards. So, mostly my plan currently entails moving the secure run to a different...
Thank you! I have some ambitious plans for a new run set up, so at least space shouldn't be a problem. Edinburgh Chickens were the first ones I checked out, but unfortunately they're out until February. I've found some up in Cupar, but that's a bit of a trip (without a car), but I'll keep at it.
Thank you! Sadly Luzie is currently on her own - her last flock mate left us yesterday, so I'm currently trying to find someone nearby that has some chickens to sell. I posted a question about introducing newbies in the 'Managing your flock' section, but will have a look at the topics as well, ta!
I don't know of any others in Scotland, I got her as one of a bunch of eggs from a breeder down in Devon. She was the only one that hatched. But they're still bred in Germany.
I was young and wild, and Germany was full of sensible grownups that didn't understand meeee! I wasn't quite ready to join them yet. Plus, Scotland is a very easy place to get stuck in - lovely people and such a beautiful place!
Haha, well, actually, I'm no fae Scotland either, I've just been living here for the last 18 years. Originally from the same part of Germany as the breed of my chicken, Thuringia! :)
Thanks, yes, I'm planning to move my chicken run before the new arrivals, so it's new turf for everyone, nice to know that might actually help. My old lady always used to be at the bottom of the pile, so I'm actually a bit more worried about her being bullied, but who knows what they'll get up to??
Hello! So, very sadly, this morning I had to say good bye to one of my two hens. I'd been planning for a while to add to the flock before I end up being left with one, but well... other stuff took over, so here we are.
I've now been reading up on introducing new chickens, and it seems like it's...
Hi All! I'm Carmen, I live in Scotland, and I first got chickens five years ago. Here's a pic of my first hen, a lovely Thuringian Bearded named Luzie.
