    I have a Bielfelder rooster and 5 Bielfelder hens. The hens are 6 1/2 months old and the rooster is over a year. When he was with my other hens he bred with them. Hens haven't started laying yet. Could that be why he isn't interested?

    I use my hens just for eggs. I got the bielefelders to see if I could hatch and sell the chicks. I'm just not sure about butchering as I've never done it.

    Hey! I'm hoping someone can tell me what breed of rooster this is. I ordered 25 chicks and they sent me a free chick. I believe its a rooster but no idea what breed it is. If it helps I ordered black stars, red stars, barred rock, whiting true blues and a few crevecoeur. Thanks for any help!

    I've had the same thing happen. My rooster was young and only would mate with one hen. I was told he was learning the ropes so to speak.
