    Heritage Breeds

Does anyone know where I may purchase breeding stock for the Blue Laced Red Wyandotte? I'm wanting to start some basic breeding program for this breed, and know that I don't want chicks from run of the mill hatcheries. Thanks, Fluffy Buff

I am considering getting some Swedish Flower chicks and I also live in NM. Would you consider sell some hatching eggs or chicks if you have any? I live in Grants, and I'm assuming you are in Farmington or Aztec area. Would love to start a small flock of the flower hens. Thanks.

Orpingtons are wonderful chickens. I recently purchase some Lavender Orpingtons, and they are about a month old now. They are so friendly and calm. The Orpingtons tend to look larger than they really are due to their fluffy feathering.

I have several chicks that look just like the ones in your pictures. Can you tell me if your chick turned out to be a hen or rooster? I'm curious and hopeful mine are pullets too! Fluffybuff

Oh! I would love to see pictures of your Lavender Orpingtons. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get them?

Welcome Ray, I'm considering getting a few silkies. I've heard good things about them and I am really liking the fact that they make good pets, as well as good brooders. Looking forward to hearing more from you letting us know how your bantams are doing.

My thought on this is perhaps its too late in the winter to be real productive. Chickens will sometimes become less productive when the days are short. You might try using a light source in the coop to extend the daylight by an hour or so after the sun goes down. Hope this is helpful.
