    2 month old barnyard mix

They are almost 13 weeks. Here is Jingle, the one with the larger combed, standing in front of a rose combed pullet.

    2 month old barnyard mix

I tried to get some more pics but it’s dark and they don’t want to cooperate of course. I’ll try and get better ones tomorrow. These 2 pics show Jingle, the larger combed of the two. He is standing in front of a cockerel and a pullet who have same dad but different mom. You can see how much...

    ISO Sicilian Buttercups- Maryland

Hi all. I’m looking for Sicilian Buttercup hatching eggs that can be (preferably) picked up within a couple hours drive or shipped (more likely, I know). I’m also interested in chicks if local-ish pick up/meet up is possible.

    2 month old barnyard mix

@SJsChickies Honestly, still not sure, but still leaning towards pullets. In this clutch I have 2 remaining obvious cockerels, 3 pullets, and then there’s these 2… 🤷‍♀️ This pic is from about a week ago.

Sorry to hear it, but thanks for the update.

    2 month old barnyard mix

Jingle and Jangle are barnyard mix chicks hatched 11/30/25. Their dad is MJ who is half Bielefelder and mom is Siggy, a Blue Rock (aka Sapphire Gem). What gender do you think they are? I’m leaning toward pullets. They are pretty similar in appearance so I’m thinking they’re the same gender...

Preparing for a prolonged cold snap

The buttercups are about 10 months old. They were fully feathered until they had the worst winter molt ever. Fortunately they’ve started growing back new feathers. Thank you. This was a big question. I think it’s about to fall off. It’s just the very tip of a comb point so nothing too serious...

Preparing for a prolonged cold snap

Thank you for your response! We are on the side of a mountain and typically get wind so I generally anticipate the temps to be 10 degrees colder than forecasted 🥶 but I think the wind is harder on me than the birds as they're smart enough to stay out of it and we give them lots of wind blocks...

Preparing for a prolonged cold snap

Hi all, I'm not a novice at chicken keeping, but these are going to be the worst prolonged cold temps we've seen in Maryland in a long time. We'll be seeing single digit overnights and daytime highs in the teens for the next 10+ days. Most of my birds should be just fine, but the duration of...

does anyone bring their chickens inside?

I have several who peck at the door to be let in for snacks and/or cuddles. I don’t otherwise keep chickens indoors unless they need it.

Project 365 Days of Fluster Cluckery

Oops! I missed so many days! Fortunate I did take a picture each day, so here they are: January 16 - probably the prettiest egg I’ve ever gotten! January 15 - Siggy (blue hen) and Giblet (not pictured) have started laying again! Derby (white hen) just photobombed. Derby has not yet started...
