I am currently adding more ventilation! Picked up some hardware screen today. I am going to cut out the side "painted on" windows to make this thing like a piece of swiss cheese. Will post some pics tomorrow.
..you should. I think you can find the full size campers at this point, basically gutted, or in disrepair for cheap. They would make a great chicken house. It would also make purist vintage camper people weep.
Hello all,
I guess I should have started here first.
I started in the BYC forum, then read the rules... whoops. Anyhow as a beekeeper, dog keeper, child keeper and novice wife keeper, I am following the wifes lead on the chicken hobby. She wanted a new hobby and I got roped into it also. I am...
I actually have the "real thing". A '62 Shasta that I modeled this coop after. It was the inspiration. The coop is about 1/2 scale of the real one. I rebuilt it from the frame up last year. It lives on the 'net here...

The big door between the...
The inspiration came from this, the real one.

Outside before paint. Feed door to the rear (do I need one of those feeders with the roller on top?), access door in the middle, will have to make some sort of "screen" door for the access door. Hen nests to the right.
bottom of the whole thing is poultry wire, will have heavier gauge around...
Hi, Newbie here, first post. I have been working on this for about 3 weeks, to replicate my 1962 Shasta Camper. I hope the chickens dig it. The older campers are commonly called "canned ham" campers, due to the profile shape of them.
