Thank you, I actually have a pen that is all boys, but what I don't keep are duplicate colors. These are given away to help others who want to expand their own colors. The site is very helpful and it is fun to talk to others also in the poultry world. Even if you can't agree on colors.
We have a beautiful blue rooster he is not nearly as dark a blue, so I would say a lavender, either way he is beautiful. Both are already gone to a great home.
I have two free silkie roosters. I have too many and need to thin out.
All are very pretty but way to hard on the few silkie hens I have.
One is a lavender satin, the other is a black satin with reddish orange hackle feathers. Hour drive from Kansas City, Missouri, 30 min. drive from St...
If you don't want to spend a lot of money, go to garage sales, etc. and buy small blankets that are cheap, they are washable and removeable and you can fasten to fence with clothes pins exactly where you want them. I like this because depending on what I need I have the versatility to change it...
I also have had good rooster, ( one was a welsummer "Jake", a buff orpington "Winston". But like many others there have been some mean ones. I had a Golden Polish whom we nicknamed "Leroy Brown" just like in the song. He would come after anything or anybody, when I had had my fill of being a...
So did you decide to go with Bielefelder's? I have them and I believe their hype is real. Extra large birds which lay an extra large egg, docile, lay well and some will set.
And their coloring is nice. So all around a good bird.
I use the extra cockerals for frying chickens, when nobody in...
I know how that is, there always my chickens too, but I have found out I really don't mind, everyone else likes to claim them when the work is done. lol
I'm from Hamilton, Missouri home of the Missouri Star Quilt Company.
I was wondering if anyone had a white or black silkie rooster they were wanting to get rid of, I am also searching for a Welsummer rooster. Must live withing 35-40 miles of Hamilton.
Thank you for all your kind words, I will be finding a new one soon. It is so quiet in the hen house now, no rooster to crow, didn't realize how much of a difference it makes.
I would do one of each, this way you can tell them apart easier, comes in handy when you need to treat them with medicine. Colorful flock and will give you a chance to see which breeds you like the best. Good luck.
