I did it for one troublemaking rooster that would fly over the fence and then a bunch of the females would follow 🐓I also clipped the wings of a he. Who decided to start laying her eggs under the coop. It doesn’t hurt them and in my case keeps them safe from predators
Update: everyone is doing better. Some still sneezing a bit but everyone is still eating and drinking. Here is a photo of the half silkie half jersey giant
Americauna. I had only had two but they were the stupidest birds I ever had. Female died of heatstroke because it was a warm day and it couldn’t figure out how to drink water. Male sucked at breeding and we had to euthanize it because it almost killed our hens by how aggressive it was. Not with...
Yeah it is pretty much definitely from mould. I’ve also had a reaction and I think my cat has it too. Common denominator is the feed (my cat sticks her nose in everything). For the chicks, It’s mostly just sneezing and wheezing now and increased thirst.
Thanks to some bad feed someone gave us that must have been sitting somewhere for a long time, I have about 20 young chicks with what I believe to be brooder pneumonia (I'd say 95% sure - I've done lots of looking around and the respiratory symptoms, the way it started when we changed the feed...
The comb is wider on the gray one but the same colour and not different enough to be sure. The white one is smaller overall and has much dantier feet though.
I have two black jersey giant white chantecler crosses at about 7 weeks. One white and one gray.
I think the white one looks female but not sure about the gray one. What do you guys think? No saddle feathers, round looking neck feathers, big legs, big comb
so you can all get attached too, here’s the mini flock of jersey giants and jersey giant x chantecler crosses (the chick in question is second to the right)
Awesome! Yeah it gets around and gets along with the others. I wasn’t sure if this condition was really painful and the chick didn’t show it. If it’s female I’ll be tempted to keep it as an adult but I’m not sure it’ll do as well with a full sized jersey giant body on those legs. We’re sending...
Hi all, I have a jersey giant chick that came out of the egg with splayed legs. Hobbled it right away but to no avail (it’s been over a week now). It gets around fine with the hobble, eats, drinks, and is growing nicely and doesn’t appear to be in pain. I was hoping to keep it as a pet but am...
