So happy for you about the health of your chicks! My little chick with the twisted neck is doing so much better. Her neck is still crooked, but much less so, and she is very assertive. Nobody picks on her.
I hope you found useful information. Actually I noticed one of my new chicks has a neck twisted to the right. I was able to go on the emergency diseases site that Teila posted for you and read about wry neck. I ran right out and got vitamins and seleniem and am treating her.
PTL! The babies have arrived, all 7 alive and healthy. The 2 Buffs went to the water first and showed the others what to do. It's hard to tell the RIR from the Buckeye or the Easter Egger. Time will tell...but for now just thankful they all of a sudden arrived at our door when I was so...
I can't share any useful information, but I did want to welcome you and share that my first chickens are scheduled to arrive in a few days! I also have learned so much from this site. Talk to you again sometime.
Only a few days until the chicks come! Am I crazy? A good percentage of our property is a barren wasteland of sand. Where is the lush green grass? In my flower garden. Where are the wild strawberries? In my other flower garden. I have been spending a lot of time digging up plugs of grass...
Thank you all for your kind welcome! I have studied and studied. The time is almost here. I plan to be waiting in the postoffice parking lot, so when they call I can rush right in for my box of chicks and hurry them straight home! forestflock
Actually my chickens are due to arrive the week of April 24th. 2 Barred Rock, 2 Buff Orpingtons, 1 RIR, 1 Easter egger and one Buckeye. We live up against the Lake Huron National Forest.
