My Silver Duckwing Project PIC HEAVY

This seemed like an appropriate thread for my boy Yoshi. I bought him from the TSC bantam bin as a pure white chick. He has what I THINK is the silver duckwing coloration, but his comb and stature lead to to think he is mixed with some kind of americauna or other pea combed breed. Any thoughts??

    Are these Calico Princesses?

At 5 weeks, I think I can confidently label mine as Wheaten Marans, due to their feathered legs and their patterns. I guess we shall see when they begin to lay!! If yours are clean-legged they may not be Marans.

Three-to-four weeks old, picked it up in the bantam bin at TSC as an all-white chick. I'm having fits trying to figure out what breed it is!!!

Gnat Attack! NEED HELP AND ADVISE

With a Master's degree in the biological sciences, I usually scoff at "home remedies", but boy did I eat my words on this one... Vanilla extract spritzed on the chickens actually works!!! I hung the Vanillaroma car air freshener in their coop too and that seems to be helping as well. Who would...

    Are these Calico Princesses?

I purchased this one from a TSC "assorted colored layers", hoping for prairie bluebell eggers. What do you all think? They're all pretty friendly, but get handled on a regular basis.

Probable Mycoplasma infection in 3 week old chick

Thank you but she has only been on pine shaving for 1 day and this issue has been going for a week. The shavings are changed daily, there is no mold/mildew issue.

Probable Mycoplasma infection in 3 week old chick

I appreciate your expertise, but I dont have the ability to send swabs off for testing. I have a Master's in forensic biology and limited access to a lab for microscope reasons, but most of my treatments have to be done by myself. I did successfully treat a silkie with baytril for a...

Probable Mycoplasma infection in 3 week old chick

The "brooder" is a large plastic kennel with pine shavings. Previously I was using puppy pads and replacing daily, but there were too many disadvantages of those. The room they are in stays about 76-78 degrees during the day, and they have a supplemental heated area to warm up. The water is a...

Probable Mycoplasma infection in 3 week old chick

Hi! I have run my fecals and there are no internal parasites of which to speak, no diarrhea to indicate intestinal trouble either. They are on medicated chick feed, so coccidia seems ruled out. I purchased them from TSC 3 weeks ago, the day they arrived at the store. I have oxytetracycline...

Probable Mycoplasma infection in 3 week old chick

Hi all, I have 7 chicks that are 3 weeks old. Their brooder is the correct temp, cleaned daily, proper food, water, etc. One of the chicks is exhibiting ruffled feathers, lethargy and tiredness, a few small bubbles in one eye, slightly puffy eyes, and wet sneezing. I believe she has a...

Snuggle chick! Anyone else with a chick like this?

Every night 💜 I love how she floofles around in my hair and neck until she gets comfy! I always wondered what that behavior meant, but am I to understand she is snuggling in my "feathers" because she thinks I'm momma?

Soggy and hot climate-- best run maintenance?

I live in Southern Louisiana, which is hot and WET. It rains almost every day, even if only for a little bit. I'm building a waterproof coop, but am baffled on how to keep litter in my run without having it mold and mildew. I cant leave bare dirt, because it just stays muddy. If I put straw, it...

    My first eggs!

Moki, my silver Ameracauna (or easter egger, not sure) laid her very first egg for me yesterday and followed up with an equally beautiful one today! The shells were thick, with a tough membrane, and the yolks were a vibrant yellow. They were delicious!!! I gave her some treats as a thank you
