Welcome, I'm also new to chickens. I live in Shelton, and I checked with the planning & zoning dept. Much to my dismay, in my fair city, 5 acres is now required for any type of livestock. Hi Don, My yard is about 1 acre. I live next to a cattle farm which is great. My problem is a neighbor whose house is kind of behind me. Maybe they will be fine with it, I'm not to sure. momma-hen, The dog house is a great idea. Chickens!! what chickens? those are the latest thing in designer dogs. Paris Hilton even has them. Besides who would keep chickens in a dog house, that's CRAZY!!! lol... Frank- frank125

Becky, My farm neighbor is Sam Stern, he is on Birdseye Rd. I live on Hubbell La. which is off of Rt 110, just below Birdseye. My yard abutts the lower end of one of Sam's fields. Hi Becky, I'm also new to this board and new to chickens. In fact, so new I don't have any yet. I'd hope to get a few this spring but I ran into a roadblock, namely the city of Shelton. Zoning now requires 5 acres for any farm type animals. I only have 1 acre, but live next to a 150 acre cattle...- frank125
