Oh wow Thanks for the useful information. I was just wondering the other day when I would be able to sex my runner ducks Too bad chicks are not that easy to sex.
Your ducklings are adorable, I just picked some up from Bucheit here in Missouri and they are adorable. The first time I seen runners I fell in love <3 so when I seen Bucheit had them I bought all they had(which was only 7) and I love them.
I would not recommend it, chickens are very social animals and should have at least one more chicken to live with, you would not have to have another show quality chicken with her, just get one that is small and friendly also If price is what you are worried about.
HAha that could be very well possible about the center I guess you could use a marker to mark the spot first and then decide if it looks centered to you then put the hole in it
A show quality hen can go any where from $20 to $100 depending on what breed you are choosing, who you are getting them from and so on. They can be very pricey. This is just what I have seen them go for.
I heard of people using Dawn on their birds to give them bathes it is supposed to be safe for them(they use it on seals and seagulls when they have oil on them) People usually bathe them before they are showing and keep them in an area where they will not get filthy again. Training I guess you...
You should be able to ask the people selling at the fair if their birds are show quality and hopefully they will be honest to you about their showability. You want to get a chicken that you love, it sounds like you are off to a great start. Just do some further research to find out which one...
My bantie cochins are very quiet, super tame, love to come up to me. I am unsure of how well cochins do at shows, but to me they are beautiful birds, and I am sure if you get them from the right breeder you will get some lovely birds.
Well you can pick birds out by first finding out what kind of breed you are looking for, you know you want a bantam. Which a lot of the standards come in bantam.
