quail pipped but then stopped moving

Hi there, I'm not an expert as this is only my second season hatching quail, but here is the thing, and it is really hard to say this, but I think assisting is the wrong way to go. I know people do, and I have, but without exception every chick I helped never thrived and I ended up doing a mercy...

    Quail, ground, aviary, idea.

Gosh, I've never considered this situation! Great advice/tip. I do have an incubator so why not learn how to use it right away. I do think there is a regional breeder in my area that I will investigate. They have quite a few specialty breeds of all sorts of birds and seem to be very much focused...

Great confirmation on the net cushion. I was planning on that too. Deer netting for gardens was what I was thinking about, it is about 1/2" or so square openings and seems pretty flexible. Do you think that would do the trick?

    Quail, ground, aviary, idea.

T Adorable! I was going to try coturnix first, I do like the looks of bobwhite, but I've read coturnix are a bit better for meat... meaning bigger.

    Quail, ground, aviary, idea.

Thank you for all the feedback! Great tip on protecting the core rows of raspberries and I will make sure they are ok for quail before I build the aviary. I do plan on making it a quail wonderland so lots of brush and I want to plant tall grasses in areas so they can futz around in there and...

    Quail, ground, aviary, idea.

Greetings all, I am probably going to start quail this spring (Wisconsin) and I want to raise them in the most natural way as possible so going to build an aviary for them. I have an idea to try and maximize my yard space and was wondering about building my aviary to enclose/include my raspberry...

    Feeding a thin broody hen

Thanks for the advice and suggestion. I don't think bullying is an issue as the crew is getting along just fine. I just did a check of the vent, up to my index finger knuckle and didn't feel anything. So far she hasn't been making any straining moves or any cries, so hopefully she is just...

    Feeding a thin broody hen

I would say she has been broody for 5ish days. I thought I was just catching her at a bad time when I would do my AM turnout as she was in the box. I physically put her out with the rest of the girls and she didn't try to get back in the box. Last night at PM check she was on the roost with the...

    Feeding a thin broody hen

I have an ISA brown who has gone broody. I made a gruel of cooked rice, barley, scratch grain, flax oil, wheat germ, raisins, black oil sunflower seeds and normal feed. I blended this into a thin slurry I can feed her with a squeeze bottle, just squeezing a bit on her tongue at a time. I gave...

    ISA-Brown page. :)))))))

I love my ISA girls. This is their first season and I've been doteing on them since 3days hatched this March. Here they are in the hawk denier pen.

    You are what you eat.

The garden is winding down for the season so I tossed a purple cabbage into the run. Oh what beautiful deep blue turds we have now. LOLOLOLOL I won't subject you to the photos, but it is pretty funny.

    Oxytetracycline feed?

I'm treating some respiratory situation in my 12 wk old barred rocks. I'm giving tylan50 orally and oxytetracycline in water. My vet said to give them oxytetracycline feed...does this exist? I've never seen it. I'm in the US.

Runny beak, sneeze, occasional snot bubble 10 wk girls

I've contacted the seller to see if they will take them back. It just isn't worth risking my other girls.
