I like to think she goes from looking like a regal old lady wearing a fur coat who DEFINITELY killed her husband for his fortune, to a horror movie extra. She’s a happy chicken though and doesn’t act any different!
Oh yeah she’s definitely a frazzle, we just call her The Frizz. She was originally named Thing 1, and her gorgeous black cochin sister is Thing 2, but after she feathered up we had to change the name to fit lol.
ooh what a lovely looking breed! I hadn’t heard of them. I do love her lean
I could see that but they seem to have yellow legs? I don’t like trying to figure out TSC or bin chicks because there’s so many hatchery quality traits that make it harder and I already have a hard time!
Man I would...
She’s a frazzle that was supposed to be a frizzle, aptly named Thing 1, or The Frizz. She drops nearly ALL her feathers in the summer but hasn’t had any problems with sunburns. I was sure I’d have to cull her before her first winter (harsh Midwest weather and indoors isn’t an option for her) but...
This pullet (named Craig) was bought at TSC as a black leghorn. She’s about 15-17 weeks old. Single comb, very small, black legs with 4 toes, feathered legs and partially feathered feet. Relatively lean build. Any ideas? Pretty timid so hard to get pics of. Thanks!
They are the same color, both brown. Her walk and uncoordinated flight have been the same since I got her; she hasn’t gotten any worse. It’s been too cold to take her out lately; I let her and the two others her age out into the yard together and like to sit out there to keep an eye on them. On...
Will do! Do you think she needs abx or some other treatment or just supportive measures until she gets over it? I’m just stumped with where to go. Don’t want to prolong her life if it’s something she won’t get over and I can’t keep her in the house forever. I’m worried about moving her out...
Ok now we’ve got some new symptoms. She’s still indoors in the kennel, eating and drinking fine but she’s pooping a mix of formed stool and straight water. I noticed it today but she’s on puppy pads that absorb so it could have been going on longer. No blood or worms noted. Not really growing...
I’m getting worried about my 10-ish weeks old EE, got her from the sexed bucket at Atwood’s, banded and all but she sure looks roo-ish to me. I’ve never had an EE so I’m not sure what I’m seeing. Thoughts?
Happy news to report! The fecal float was negative; she’s continuing to have formed, non-bloody stools and has really peeled up since I brought her inside in a crate on Thursday. I think she might have just had a combination of being hungry/dehydrated, combined with the stress of a new...
She’s outside all the time except for the 20 minutes a day (sometimes twice a day) and it only got cold recently but I find her sleeping in the pile of chickens who chose not to roost at night and sleep in the egg boxes instead. I haven’t actually seen anyone pick on her other than the two other...
