    Possum problem

I know marshmallows work great for raccoons because I believe they may think they are an egg inside the live trap. I think it would work for an opposum too. They are great because there is no odor to attract cats like tuna or cat food would.

When to euthanize duck suffering from recurring bumblefoot -worried about quality of life

I am so sorry for your loss. I know it's hard. It sounds like you went above and beyond treating her and doing everything you could to help her. I have never dealt with bumblefoot, but have read a lot about it just in these forums and it seems to be very challenging in some cases. I think for...

how to move ducklings to pond?

It's a shame all ducks just can't go out to a pond and be safe. They just love their time in the water, but it is probably one of the unsafest places for them. They are such targets for hawks, eagles, foxes, coyotes, raccoons, weisels, snapping turtles etc. Our neighbors have a pond behind us...

    Taking Ducklings Outside

It's been over 2 years since we had to introduce our hand raised ducks to the outdoors. We had 3 ducklings and we would set up the big cardboard ring that came in the starter kit we bought when we got the ducklings. We got them at TSC. It was pretty big and we would set it up in the grass and...

My Duck has infection inside head that comes out her eyes and sometimes has abcess I sometimes drain

Poor Ping. She is lucky to have such a womderful, caring owner. Cat bites are probably the worst as far as bacteria. Cat mouths are really "dirty" and as you have found out most cat bites become infected. You are doing a great job. Continue to keep it very clean by flushing it out if you can. I...

    The Journal of The Quackers

I loved reading this and most of all appreciated how many times you wrote love in your descriptions of your beautiful ducks. It's wonderful how much you love them and appreciate each of their personalities. They are very lucky to have such a wonderful caring owner. I love all my animals too (fur...

my duck is sitting on nest help

You did the right thing seperating the drake from the mom and ducklings. It's so easy to want to put our human emotions and feelings on our animals. We couldn't even imagine the human father killing his offspring. But as you have unfortunately learned animals will kill their young. I put up...

    Tiny duckling, possible injured leg

I'm so sorry to hear about Swimmy. I do believe that there is a place like they describe in the poem Rainbow Bridge where she has been made whole again and will be waiting for you. It takes a very special and caring person to take on a special needs animal. There are many out there that don't...

    Please help! HURT DUCK

That is a great set up for your ducks! Did you make it yourself? If so, can I ask about how much your materials cost? It looks like it's light weight that you could move around your yard if needed to keep grass available for them.

    Could this be a drake?

I'm thinking you may have 2 females if their beans are light in color. And I don't know what exactly the bean is for....if it has any purpose.

    Could this be a drake?

Sometimes when they are that age you can tell whether a Khaki Campbell is a male or female by the color of the bean on their bill. The males tend to have a dark almost black bean and the females have a lighter brown bean. This proved right for mine and then I could tell for sure once their drake...

    Loons

That is so cool! You are so lucky to have that experience. I love the stories of wild animals(birds) that choose the companionship of domestic animals and sometimes humans yet still are wild and free to go as they please. There are 2 tufted titmouse birds and 2 white breasted nuthatches that I...
