I am going through the same thing right now with one of my chicks :( He was 4 days late hatching. He pipped a head sized hole in his egg, but didn't progress from there. I could here this clicking sound coming from the egg. I gave him a day to get out, but still no progress, so I gave him some...
Hi Pent,
I live in NS too. I've recently moved here and love it!! I noticed there was some button quail for sale on Kijiji. They are located in Wolfville and I think they're asking $10 each. Have you checked out the Facebook group, Maritime Fowl? It's a great group! People are full of great info...
The color is definitely right, but my blue bird has ear tufts and a beard. I know she's at least part Ameracauna. Maybe that's the other part. Who knows.
Thanks for posting!!
Thanks myhubbycallsme chick!
That's all I'm saying. I am a registered dog breeder, and we have to abide by very strict rules to call our dogs purebred. If I sold a puppy as purebred that wasn't, I can be fined $5000 per dog sold.
Our laws state that animals sold as pure bred, must be just that...
She does have ridges. Maybe she is part buck eye. It sucks that I paid the pure bred price for them. She probably saw that I was inexperienced and I wouldn't know the difference. It's really hard to tell when they are chicks anyway. I will never buy from her again. Losing almost all my birds was...
I've never seen a RIR without a comb either. Is it possible she could just be a late bloomer, or are they completely full grown at 10 months? It doesn't really matter anyway, I just thought it was strange. I've been waiting for it to come in, but I think that's just how she looks.
I was a little...
I was just wondering if this is normal. She's been laying well for a few months.
The girl in the background is supposed to be a purebred Americauna, but she's huge and lays a brown egg!
I've gotten my new chicks from a different breeder this time. I've had a lot of problems with the batch of...
I Used to live in BC! I lived near Vancouver for a few years and outside of Vernon for a couple years. Beautiful place, but the cost of living is outrageous!
I had this happen to me a couple weeks ago I had 2 RIR's. They both seemed perfectly healthy. I went out to collect eggs and noticed one in the nesting box with her tail down, and really not looking good. I moved her so I could keep an eye on her, but she died later that afternoon. I have no...
Hi Chirpy chickens!
I absolutely love my Orpington! She's my favorite :) She is on the top of the pecking order in my small flock, so they can definitely hold their own! She has a great personality. She runs right up to me when I'm in the coop. I had an orpington roo that I gave away and have...
Hello,
I just wanted to introduce myself. I have been getting lots of great info from this site. I thought I'd better join, to be able to post and comment!
I am fairly new to keeping chickens. I have 1 Buff Orpington, 1 RIR, 1 (supposed to be an Ameracauna, but doesn't conform and lays a brown...
