This is so great, thanks for all the info. Are there telling sex characteristics or are we just waiting for eggs? The little Princess Muscovy keeps flying the coop, so our plan to get her a partner/flock to hang with didn't work so far. -

Chicks won't go to sleep!
Housing chicks and full grown chickens will likely kill the new ones. You should separate them, put a brooder light on them and allow space. Chicks will settle in and 'sleep' at night, but if they're peeping excessively all night they are too hot, too cold, hungry, etc...- Frijole

Hot weather care for chicks
HI from Bakersfield, too! We beat the heat for our flocks by freezing ice in dollar tree plastic bowls. In the afternoon we drop a big chunk of ice by the coop (for our free ranging flock) and in the dust bath for the quail pen.
