This silkie chick hatched yesterday. It did have a bit of a rough hatch and was a little bloody. How can I help it? It’s not splayed leg but it’s like it can’t get its legs underneath it to stand. It just flails around.
Here’s a video (sorry I couldn’t figure out how to embed this!)...
I have a naked neck Turken with what looks like a third wattle. Is this normal or common? It almost looks like what turkeys have in between his two wattles.
Thank you! I’m super new to understanding what makes up a good breeder quality silkie. I did feel like her tail was relatively low. She’s only 8 weeks old (ish) so still a baby. Do you typically wait to see how they look as they get older or do you know when they are young if they will be...
So I am beyond obsessed with this silkie that I hatched. What color would she be considered? She’s still young but does she look like a good breeding prospect? She was born with quite the vaulted skull and I did read that could mean a nice floofy head.
It’s been insanely hot here like everywhere else on the east coast. I have multiple fans outside for everyone including a mister fan and they are in shade all day. Everyone has been doing okay. Last night I put everyone away and put a fan in the coop to help with air flow.
This morning I found...
I’ve definitely considered that. It peeps and is taking the syringe. It does open its eyes when I pick it up now from time to time. I’ll give it a shot with getting some vitamins and electrolytes in it and if it doesn’t work we will let it go.
I have a chick that is approximately 7-8 weeks old now. I had a bout of coccidia run through that I’ve been struggling to get rid of because it will not stop raining here. I’ve had the flock on Corrid and everyone is doing much better except this little one.
It is still alive. It cannot stand...
I am super new to turkeys and am curious when you can start to tell what is a hen vs a tom. What signs do you look for? My poults are approximately 8 weeks old now. Here are some pictures of them 🙂
