    What did you do with your flock today?

    I am out of town and my dad is watching the flock. He says that a falcon has been hanging around the yard. I’m really nervous 😬. My dad let our dog out to chase the falcon and that will probably deter it! I’m crossing my fingers!

    He’s defiantly a rooster. You can see the tail starting to get longer. And he is also standing like a roo too! I bet he will start crowing shortly!

    Are these good breeds?

    They both have very good egg production and are very friendly breeds. Though laying an egg, is very stressful. And is equivalent to going into labor for 24 hours for each egg. Chickens should not be forced to lay eggs against their will. It in my head is torture.:(

    Her ‘advise’ is just not accurate and should not be followed. I am very bothered by this because people who have not raised chickens watch this. And then they follow by example which is no good.

    I live in Washington State with 14 happy chickens. I’ve lost three roosters to living in an neighborhood. With some grumpy people who can‘t deal with the wonderful, happy sounding crow every morning.

    Momma will PROBABLY come back. Have you ever heard of those stuffed animals that you put in the Microwave and they get warm? Try that. That will keep the little guy warm. Look it up!
