Ok. I will try that, thank you for your advise. Like I said I'm a new chicken mama, so a lot of these things puzzle me. I read quite a bit before getting my chickens, but there's a lot you won't find in any book, forum, post or anywhere.
It is not all that warm. I'm in northern MI. They do seem too keep their beaks open all the time, although it's not all the chickens but several of them. As for panting, I have seen some of them do, but then, some were running; my lame chicken, however, she keeps her beak open and she does pant...
Hello everyone, I too am glad I found this post as I was about to post something similar. My chickens are 10 months old as well, and their eggs were anywhere from a light brown to a light chocolate. But now all of a sudden they are mostly a cream color and a few light browns. I also have 1 white...
I'm sorry, I would love to go, but I have 3 handicapped kids at home that need my help and don't travel well. I too don't travel well lately. Have too many "ouchies" to do so. But I wish you all the best and lots of fun. I'll be there in spirit!
We did. In fact we tried a different bag of the same brand and type (crumbles), then we switched (slowly) to a different brand, still crumbles and then we went back to the previous brand (agains slowly) but this time pellets. We tried everything, and they wouldn't eat the stupid food. And the...
What worried me though, is that mine were actually starving themselves! They were getting quite skinny (I felt them in their breast area even after eating, and they were just skin and bones). That's why I had to do something to get them eating. I don't want to overfeed them, but I do want to...
Good morning everyone, well I have a pet chicken living in my bathroom because she's blind and the others were pecking on her. So where else can she go, but to my bathroom? And now it looks like I might get another one! This one is not blind, but she is being pecked to death, and she's the only...
Thanks for all the advise. I did give them greens through winter, although not everyday. This is my first time as chicken mama, so I'm still learning, lol. As for my sick chicken, she is doing much bettef. I read in the emergencies forum about wry neck, and even though hers was not turned...
I don't think that was the case because this dish was used only for greens, and it was completly empty. I feed them everyday, and each time their feeders are pretty much empty (there might be a little bit left, but not much), and also water them daily, washing their water containers each time...
Thanks. I was just now looking at some of the posts to see if some of them might be similar to my case. There is at least one where a chicken keeps her neck down, and someone suggested she might have "wry neck" a neurological problem caused by a blow to the head, vitamin E deficiency or Marek's...
Hello, I'm sorry to interrupt your conversations this evening, but I really need your help and expertise with my chicken (the one from the previous post). She's not doing any better. I noticed a hard lump on her crop and wondered if maybe she had sour crop or maybe she was just impacted. Anyway...
Hello everyone, I'm sorry I haven't kept up with you, but there has been a lot going on. We finally built our coop under the back porch, and like some of you predicted, it didn't quite worked out the way we hoped. It did get us through the winter at least though! So now we are planning on...
