This cute little peeper hatched the good old fashioned way on our little farm, June 14. Mom is a Brown Leghorn, Dad is a Rhode Island Red. So.....Hen or Roo? Any ideas?
Beautiful photos. I'm here in Aberdeen, Washington. It's overcast and cooler here today, but I'm one of those crazy people who likes it when it's like this.
That's why I decided to go with the buckets. I have an open concept coop and I'm hoping it will be dryer for them. We hope to put a new roof on it this fall and enclose 2 more sides, but even then, I think it will keep them dryer and warmer.
Watching the movie Chicken Run with my boys and feeling inspired. "Egg production is down ladies, and its time to step it up. Don't make me go all Mrs. Tweedy on your fat feathered fannies!"....LOL Of course I'm kidding. I couldn't eat my girl's if I tried.
I may still try the kitty litter box idea if this doesn't work out. That was actually my first choice, but I went with the bucket idea because the buckets were free and I had some scrap 2 x 4's.
