    I can't remember now, but I think the bag of Chick Grit said at like week 2 to offer it in small amounts and make sure they don't over eat it.

    I have to agree. Hardware Cloth is the way to go. A friend just recently lost all but 1 chicken to a raccoon that got threw the Chicken Wire.

    As I recall, they are DC only and 12 volt, but connecting a 9V battery should work. You could also get a big 12v battery (Square kind) in the camping section because they are used for the big flashlights.
