Chicks need help to the coop

Yesterday I had to run out to the pen 3x to get that ONE chick out of the rain! I had a whole panel covering the front of the coop but I'm going to move the entrance to this side since I can see it from my office. I closed off the other side in the meantime because the Cochin wanted to jump into...

Chicks need help to the coop

Thank you for the encouragement but today was actually a really good day for us! The Reds are all supposed to be pullets so hopefully I don't have any roosters! My cochins are all pullets from Ideal Poultry. I have an adult barred rock rooster and an adult RIR rooster I'm seriously thinking...

Chicks need help to the coop

I had to remove one of the Cochins today because she got picked on so much the back of her head was literally down to the meat. :( The Reds are still being mean, the Cochins just stay in the coop all the time. Is it really a good idea to leave them together? And once again I had to put al the...

Chicks need help to the coop

I wish it was that easy. All day they gave each other space but towards the evening the reds started picking on the cochins and wouldn't even let them get to the water bucket. So I put all the cochins in the coop with food and water and about 1 hour later they were all back out and cowering in a...

Chicks need help to the coop

The cochins found the shade and the water bucket right away. The reds are kinda segregating themselves. I'm sitting in the shade enjoying my tea and watching them interact. Lol

Chicks need help to the coop

Thank you very much for your informative reply. It's good to know I'm doing the right thing. Lol I would also like to integrate my six week old Cochins with them. How would I do that and when would be the best time?

    Raising and caring for ducklings

I got Rouens because I read somewhere that Mallards leave in the winter. I live in Colorado. I don't know if it's true though. :D

When do take chicks off chick starter

My 9 week old chicks are still on the starter feed and they eat it just fine but they prefer to eat the mixed grains corn feed I give my chickens that are free range. Is it ok for them to have that since it's not really nutritious for them?
