I thought when I ordered my chicks from a hatchery I’d get what I asked for but I got 3 Roos and 9 hens(chicks) I have 5 more hens outside would a 14 hen to 3 roo ratio be fine in the long run? I’m kind of already attached to all the chicks and they’re all very sweet. Don’t want to have to rehome.
Yes one roosting bar is like 6 feet up, other one is about 4 feet off the ground. Nesting boxes are 12 and 24 inches off the ground. He was bullied for the first 3 days or so. But has sense been fine and it’s been about 2 weeks now that’s he’s been in with the girls. He’s a very small rooster in...
Hello everyone I’ve recently picked up a new rooster for my hens. He is an ayam cemani, he’s a bit skittish but seems like he’ll be a good rooster when he gets all settled in. I’m having issues with him at night not going to the roosting bar and he prefers to sleep in the nesting box which is...
We got the rooster about a week ago and have been using the see but no touch method. We finally let him in with the girls today and welllll they all jumped him pretty bad. I was going to post a video but I cannot on this website. Anyways they all pretty much attacked him and then left him alone...
No not yet. I was more concerned with under the run. I have already ordered some hawk netting on Amazon. However I wouldn't be supposed to other options as I will likely want to get in the run and get the girls for health checks, etc. yeah there’s 18 feet of roosting bars I’m going to put...
Curious on the amount of birds that’s can fit in this run, and if there’s any improvements I can make for a more enjoyable quality of life.
Coop is 8x10 and the run is 17x27.
I should have said this. But they’re all the same chick. I’m trying to single my rooster out and was wondering if this was him. He’s the only one who has rooster like characteristics.
m seeking designs for a secure and spacious chicken run using T-Post, hardware mesh, and hawk netting to provide my girls with ample space to move around while they're confined to their 8x10 coop all day. What are some creative and functional ideas for maximizing space and safety?
I have about...
I have concerns regarding the safety of my temperature-controlled chick brooder, which gets warm on top. Although I am probably being overly cautious, could you please provide your opinions on whether there is a risk of fire?
