I’m planning on getting some Egyptian geese in the summer. I’m researching there diet and nesting habits. I can’t seem to find an estimate on the expected number of eggs per year. These are next to impossible to track down, so I assume they don’t lay that many. So my question is how many eggs...
Rain quail and african quail are interfertile, they have different calls. I raised button quail, african quail and jumbo coturnix at the same time. I think the harlequin quail have great potential for egg production. They were only about twice the size of the button, but the egg was maybe 80%...
Any idea how one goes about importing quail, and what kind of costs are associated with such a venture. I own an outdoor supply company so it would be a business expense for me. Except rain quail are my dream quail, so if I had something imported that would be it.
When I had them the first time I got a 30% hatch rate. It the second generation I only got about 8%. At the same time I had silver schofield quail, and was getting a 96% hatch rate. I keep the African Quail until they got too old to lay. This is my second attempt.
I’ve been looking everywhere for african harlequin quail. I’ve raised them in the past but now they seem to be next to impossible to obtain. If someone could point me to a breeder, It would be greatly appreciated. I’ll take eggs or live birds.

I just got some today. They are A lot bigger than I expected. I would say 4/5 The size of Japanese (non Jumbo), It would be vary eazy to confused the hen for a Japanese. Vary Cool mating call, Reminds Me of "jin-gle-bells".
A few months ago I bought 6 King Quail. I've put every egg I get in the incubator, and how I have over 120 Quail and counting. My question is if you start with a breeding pair, under optimum conditions, how many Quail could you end up with in One Year?
I sold all my chickens four years ago when I started my own business. Now I'm looking to rebuild the flock, and I can think of no better breed than the self blue D'uccle.
Can anyone suggest A few good hatcheries that supply them. I would like to order about 25 from each for different bloodlines.
Update
I got two more eggs to day. I also bought some Scoot's Quality Quail feed. I didn't think they would lay that good after just being moved. I hope they keep it up. I am looking for some good hatching trays but don't know which one is the best. I would like plastic ones if anybody knows...
