I have an adult ostrich who has a wound on his upper neck. It scabbed up once but this morning I noticed it's bigger and bleeding again. Would be a good idea to put some sort of gauze over it to prevent him from injuring himself further until it heals?
Her name is Cinnamon and her male partner is Chuck (Chuck Norris). I've never raised them before and only acquired these 2 little guys a little over a week ago.
After draining the air yesterday she doesn't seem to be filling up at any noticeable rate. This morning looked the same as it did after we drained the air yesterday morning.
She is doing fine. The air sac doesn't bother her and she isn't showing any signs of discomfort. Today she seemed to have less air under her skin and it drained pretty easy to the point where there wasn't much more air to take out. We'll see tomorrow how much it refills.
I have a 3 week old ostrich with a ruptured air sac. She was taken to the vet and got the air removed but it filled up almost on the way home. I will be removing the air myself every day but I would like to know her chances of survival if anyone else has experience with this.
