Does anyone know if there are horizontal nipples available anywhere with a locking nut for the backside? I always have a hell of a time getting them put into PVC pipe with out leaking, so I think I'm just going to put them straight into a 55 gallon barrel. I'd like to have some kind of nut on...
The chain that the trap is attached to runs through the mouth of a bucket and out a hole I cut in the bottom of it. Once the trap is sprung, I can just grab the chain and pull the trap and coon into the bucket and pop the lid on.
It's just a dog proof coon trap. I threaded the chain through a hole in a bucket so I can pull the coon inside and then pop the lid on. Then I can transport it out of city limits for a meeting with Mr. Remington.
I've got a big live trap set so far (havaheart?). If that doesn't work I'll get some of those Duke dog proof traps. Will be adding more chicken wire flared out from the bottom of the fence, with big rocks on top as well.

I can start trying to get them to roost at night, but...
Are you in Lawrence Plinky? I am.
The laws in town specifically say you are allowed to have chickens, just not roosters. However that doesn't stop someone from taking you to court and wasting your time/money.
My neighbors have some kind of pear tree that is growing fruit this year. I threw a few of them into the coop the other day, but the girls weren't interested at all. Maybe if I cut them open first...
My hens have just started laying. My problem is that they kick all the hay out of the nesting box beforehand though, and about half the time the egg ends up cracked or broken when it plops down on the bare wood. Is there anything I can do to stop this? Maybe the shells will get tougher as...
