Help with 9-week-old chicks breed and gender

I think you right on the chocolate orphington as I recall they only had one chocolate orphington left when we bought the chicks.

Help with 9-week-old chicks breed and gender

Can you help identify the breed and gender of these 9-week-old chicks? We bought as Pullets from Tractor Supply, but I think a couple may be roos based on size. We have another set at 6 weeks (not pictured), and we lost track of what we bought for either set as we were going to different...

Put 1 day old chicksunder broody hen with 1 week old chicks.

Muscovies don't tent to need water like ducks do. So I think the issue would be squashing them. My Muscovi is on the smaller side, but not sure if that helps.

Put 1 day old chicksunder broody hen with 1 week old chicks.

We had a hen go broody and sit on 12 eggs. Unfortunately, we had some other hens that disrupted things when they would try to lay in the same nest By the time we separated her, it seems we lost all of the eggs. We were able to place 1-day old chicks (chocolate orphington, light bantam, rhode...

Dead 4-week-old chicks in the nest

Thanks. My children keep asking what we can do for her and I am thinking we just give her her space to grieve.

Dead 4-week-old chicks in the nest

An update to the situation, one of the two hens that were mothering the chicks is no longer going towards the nest and in fact is acting depressed today. I am not sure if she is sick, or if she perhaps is grieving. If the latter, my thought is the hen currently sitting on the eggs killed the chicks.

Dead 4-week-old chicks in the nest

After entering the order of events above, I realized the chicks were 3-weeks old. Not sure if that matters.

Dead 4-week-old chicks in the nest

I will give you the complicated timeline. We have had 5 laying hens since March 2. One hen went broody on June 15. She along with another hen never used the nesting boxes but instead laid in the corner of the coop. We knew these were not fertile eggs she was sitting on, so we contacted a...

Dead 4-week-old chicks in the nest

The chicks were free-ranging fine yesterday and none of the hens seem to be showing any issues today.

Dead 4-week-old chicks in the nest

We had two chicks that were being raised by 3 broody hens sharing a nest. One of the broody hens stopped sitting on the nest last week and everything has been fine. The chicks even seem to follow around whichever hen is not sitting on the nest. Well, today I found the two chicks dead in the nest...

    First Eggs at 16 Weeks

Just a quick post to show how each chicken is different. One of the Buff Orpingtons (16 weeks) looks way older than the rest and low and behold, today she popped out a small egg. A few of the chickens have been singing the egg-laying song for about two weeks now. And in the time it took to...

Sorry about that. I did not realize the picture did not come through. I edited the main post with a pic and attached here as well.

Confirming my Seven Chicks are Ladies

We have 8 week old Barred Rocks (3) Buff Orpingtons (2) and 7 weeks old Delawares (2). Can you guys tell if we have any boys based on these pics? The BRs coloring seems to match those of hens online. The BOs I am not sure what to look for, but I don't see a super bright or large comb on either...
