    June 8th and still covering our tomato plants because it will go from 20 in the sun to freezing point during the night. We are the only other place in the world besides a dessert I'm sure haha

    Coop lighting

    You should be fine with natural light during the day and then maybe a regular light bulb on at night. They shouldn't need supplemented heat when they're fully feathers, but a small light for them to see around the coop throughout the night should keep them happy. Hope this helps, good luck...

    We don't have snakes or anything big enough around here that could be taking out eggs. It's rare to even see a 7 inch grass snake, rare as in I've seen 1 in the last 15 years or so haha. They have no place to hide a nest, there's a few that always lay in one corner so I know they're not eating...

    Flock hasn't changed. They have a coop and run so they don't free range. Nothing new to diet and no change in routine.

    We are in Nova Scotia and our Temps have been dropping from 20+ degrees celcius to some nights almost freezing. I consider our temp drops and rises to be somewhat extreme. It happened over a few days. Today was sunny again and a bit warmer and we are back up to 7 eggs today

    I have one large window on one side, 7'x4' that opens, one on the back wall that is a bit smaller and doesn't open, and the door infant and a small hatch on one side for them as well

    We had a good spell of weather and were getting 7 to 11 eggs daily from 11 hens. Sun was shining and eggs were dropping, the last week it has been colder and damp and wet and we are down to some days 4 eggs a day. Is the weather affection egg production?

    We have curtains as well. We have roll away nest boxes too. Theres a few that lay in the corner of the coop and they don't touch them though.

    Thanks for the info, We have covered rolling nest boxes, but maybe I will stick with just the metal roof then. How come light makes them eat eggs?

    I was just talking to a friend of mine and he said the same thing. He said use metal roof and put a sheet of clear in the middle for sunlight

    Does anyone have any experience with using corrugated plastic roof panels. I am thinking about using this on the main coop roof (8'x12') coop with a 4/12 gable roof.
