    Chickens at war, please help!?!!

You've made me feel much better thanks. It's crazy because at night they are fine and even waiting to get of the run they're fine just outside in the open space. Crazy chickens. I wouldn't be without them though. A squirt sounds good, especially when it's hot they might end up liking it 😂 All...

    Chickens at war, please help!?!!

Thanks for responding. They all roam free in the garden all day, which is about 6m by 12m.There are multiple feeders places and watering holes. There isn't any blood just a peck and a chase. Just worry as the little ones are nervous around them and run off. They have a coop at night which has...

    Chickens at war, please help!?!!

We hatched 3 chicks with 2 broodies in May this year. We have kept all chicks, one is a cockeral, the others hens. The chicks remained with mums until 5/6wks old, then they had had enough. We had 4 original hens. We expected the dynamics to change but it not harmonious at all. One of the...

    Adding another chick after 5days

So far so good this morning... Placed new chick under last night. Checked a few times and all good. This morning 2 mums and 3 chicks emerged, had a feed and the latest arrival has snuggled back under with the others.

    Adding another chick after 5days

This is my worry too. Thanks for the advice. Will try, but the brooder will be ready, and maybe another day old chick to keep it company. Oh no 😀

    Adding another chick after 5days

We got 2 new chicks at a day old and gave these to our 2 broodie hens. We had fertilised eggs which they were sitting on, but we didn't think any were viable, hence the buying of 2day old chicks. On the day we removed the eggs, one last check showed potentially 1 chick. This has now hatched in...

    Failing to thrive???

Recently got 2 orpington chicks at 1 day old. Placed under 2 Broodie wydottes, they are great co-parenting mothers. One of the chicks is great running around, learning to feed, drinking, eating. The other though seems weaker somehow. She is 5 days old now, eating and drinking but seems...

    Chicken Maths is a thing

I have had chickens for a year now. Never wanted them, my partner did. But, within days I was hooked and now I am obsessed. We have 2 leg bars, 2 bantam wydottes and recently 2 orpington chicks. The new coop will be built soon.
