Not laying after hatching first egg 3 months ago

Good day all. My 14 month old silkie went broody April 1. She sat on one egg for 21 days. Fortunately it hatched. They are inseparable. Unfortunately she has not laid since. She never regained her weight after sitting on her egg for 21 days. And her poop is smaller and always has a lot of water...

It doesn’t appear to be an issue where I live.

    Rooster slowly losing voice

Thank you for the reply!! I’ve been feeding them layer feed from tractor supply. However, I just ordered some organic feed with probiotics. I purchased starter feed for my new girls at a family owned feed store several hours away when I purchased my young’ins. I can tell a big difference in...

    Rooster slowly losing voice

In addition, yesterday he started staggering like a drunk. Not all the time. I noticed he’s flapping his wings more when he walks fast. I think to keep balance. He’s always done this when he runs as he is a big boy. And now my two girls have diarrhea. We do not have a good chicken vet. They...

Thank you for replying. Oswald is 10 months old. We looked down his throat previously and didn’t see anything. But I’ll specifically check his beak. I’ll video him. Posting a few photos from this past week. I’m gone all day today so I can take new photos tomorrow and a video.

    Rooster slowly losing voice

Hello all! Hope you are well. I have an orpington rooster who started loosing his voice two weeks ago. The first sign was strained crowing. Today I noticed he’s unable to talk at all. He’s eating, drinking, running, and wide eyed. He has normal and runny droppings. No breathing issues. No...

I just replied to this but do not see it in my thread. Did you receive my response on your vet visit?

Ugh. I’m sorry he mentioned the M word. I had very helpful advice when I posted on Merle. I am not in the know. But I was told that if Merle improved it was probably an avian virus. And if he didn’t, it was probably Mareks. So the improvement from your other post gives cause for hope!!!!!!

    Injured foot or leg

This improvement is encouraging. I appreciate your care. We brought Merle in so the other chickens would not trample him. Plus he could not eat and drink on his own due to paralysis. Therefore, I am familiar with your exhaustion concerning the process. Sounds like you are a great mother hen. 😀...

He’s adorable. Have you read up on roosters that stop crowing? It’s good you are taking him to the vet. Keep me posted on what the vet says.

Thank you. Sadly we had to euthanize sweet Merle. He was such a doll. My favorite chicken. Who knew a rooster could be the sweetest, most interactive chicken in the flock. His paralysis worsened until it reached his lungs. He never got bitter or whiny. And he remained alert. Which is what...
