I have noticed she never had red caruncles either but my other have bright red or black. I do worry she anemic but she got the same diet as the others.
She has calmed down with excessive laying and just giving 1 a day now. She got a nesting box in the garage alone as she was my only girl and didn't want my boys to ambush her. Got a few more girls now but got them in quarantine.
That's Nutmeg in her nesting box.
She got the extra calcium and protein but she seems happy and is following me around and being very clingy. She only had 1 very large egg today, so since Christmas day (25th) I got a total of 8 eggs from her now.
So my Muscovy Girl laid her first ever egg yesterday and then today she decided to lay 3 eggs. 2 within a few seconds between each other and another 4 hours later. I'm genuinely concerned as I have read than its normal for 1 egg a day and rare for 2.
is this normal for first time layer? I have...
They are silly little creatures at times I swear but they are adorable. Can't actually imagine a day without them anymore, i get happy just seeing them and they only get happy when there's food 😅
I don't think it's a muscovy thing because i got a mallard with them that does the same but yeah mine are weird. I tried to put them out with rain and they just run back in, so I gave up trying 😅
Yeah mine do go outside but its starts getting dark here at like 4pm and it's been very cold with heavy rain so they just stay in their shed with the door open but they don't want to go out in it.
Thank you 😊 she was ment to be chocolate and white but turned out black and white, she definitely going more white over face but she very sweet.
I knew muscovies was slow but didn't realise they was that slow 😅 I don't mind, I just wanted to be prepared for when she starts and avoid her getting...
Oh that's good to know, I know my boy has tried to mount her but he's a little silly and doesn't understand how 😅 he ends up just humping half way up her back. Makes me wonder if mine are abit dumb.
I have a girl that was hatched 25th March 2023 and I was wondering when should she start laying eggs? I read that some start at 6months old but she hasn't even started yet. Getting a little worried something might be wrong if she should already be laying eggs by now.
I have 1 mallard and I thought it was a girl for such a long time ever after the time it says it should start to show difference with colour but stayed female looking for long and then BAM male. He's a little sweety though, I been trying to get him some girls his own size or mallard but sadly...
I have noticed there is more drakes than girls being hatched which is so strange. Its been super hard to find more muscovy girls.
Aww you got pictures of them?
