We have a Rhode Island Red that is about 2 years old. For the past 6 weeks she has been laying very soft shell eggs that crack open in the nesting box. We have 3 other hens that are laying fine. They all eat the same things and are all given oyster shell as well as feeding them crushed egge...
It stood for just a moment first thing this morning when I went out to the run.
But, I'm afraid things have worsened over the past three hours. She's not responding to anything. I guess she's pretty much gone now.
Whatever the issue is (or was) she definitely had gotten to be skin and bones...

I have one Cochin and one Welsumer. Both are about 30 weeks old and seem healthy. They're each laying regularly and have pretty roomy living conditions for two chickens..
Today, when I got home, the feathers on the back of the Cochin's head and down the back of her neck were gone. She still...
We got our first chicks on April 16th. We were told they were 6 weeks old. 1 Gold Laced Cochin, 1 Silver Grey Dorking and 1 Welsummer. (We can only have 3 in our downtown neighborhood)
The Cochin started laying at about 23 weeks. She is doing GREAT! The Dorking laid her first egg at 26 weeks...
