    Soft Shell Eggs

We have a Rhode Island Red that is about 2 years old. For the past 6 weeks she has been laying very soft shell eggs that crack open in the nesting box. We have 3 other hens that are laying fine. They all eat the same things and are all given oyster shell as well as feeding them crushed egge...

Lethargic Chicken Missing Back Feathers -- Help!

It stood for just a moment first thing this morning when I went out to the run. But, I'm afraid things have worsened over the past three hours. She's not responding to anything. I guess she's pretty much gone now. Whatever the issue is (or was) she definitely had gotten to be skin and bones...

Lethargic Chicken Missing Back Feathers -- Help!

Poo looks completely normal. The skin on her back is completely exposed and she looks like just skin over bone. I do not know if this type of chicken is normally that skinny or not as she seems fat because of the feathers.

Lethargic Chicken Missing Back Feathers -- Help!

I have a 16 week old Ameracauna hen that has been either curled up in the corner of the run or sort of asleep on her feet this morning. It won't drink water or eat any of the variety of foods I brought out. When I picked her up to gently force her to drink some water, I noticed that her back...

Cochin Going Bald-Updated with picture added. Any advice?

Here's Daisy Sorry if the picture isn't quite clear. But the missing feathers are totally gone as if plucked out. The skin is not irritated at all. There do not seem to be a lot of feathers around in the coop either. We are stumped. Any help?

Cochin Going Bald-Updated with picture added. Any advice?

Thank you for your reply I'm afraid I'm fairly new to the chicken game so I don't know anything particular about mites. I think the feathers are pretty much totally gone. Just a few remaining feathers on that area. Whatever it is, it has happened in the last 24 hours.

Cochin Going Bald-Updated with picture added. Any advice?

I have one Cochin and one Welsumer. Both are about 30 weeks old and seem healthy. They're each laying regularly and have pretty roomy living conditions for two chickens.. Today, when I got home, the feathers on the back of the Cochin's head and down the back of her neck were gone. She still...

No eggs and soft or no shell eggs

We got our first chicks on April 16th. We were told they were 6 weeks old. 1 Gold Laced Cochin, 1 Silver Grey Dorking and 1 Welsummer. (We can only have 3 in our downtown neighborhood) The Cochin started laying at about 23 weeks. She is doing GREAT! The Dorking laid her first egg at 26 weeks...
