    I would go with high protein feed like meat bird feed 22% mixed with a bit of warm water. Boiled eggs and yogurt. Also, a little flax seed in the yogurt might help also.

    Don't get me wrong, I Love my silkies BUT

    I have a mix flock, my black silkie seems to hold her own. She goes in on her own and roosts. She is about a year old now. Maybe it just takes time. If they are juveniles, it might just take longer. I think you are right though... silkies are errrr..... just a mellower bird.

    Mine start crowing between 16-18 weeks. They start chasing hens about 22 weeks ish? This is just an estimate.

    lost 8 last night. 17 in 2 1/2 months.

    I've lost over a dozen this spring chick season. I know what you are going through. Don't despair. Keep trying, put hardware cloth in instead. See if that helps.

    I have a pure white EE that came from HHandbasket. She is named Snow and is the prettiest thing. So yes. She also doesn't have a lick of brown on her and has green feet.

    culling is so hard... . I've had more than my fair share of death on the farm this summer. You should do what you think is right esp. keep in mind the chickens overall happiness in the long run. I can't tell you what to do, but I understand.

    What do you got in the fridge that should not be there?

    worms, live super worms. Ash eggs- aka millenium eggs ( anyone know what that is?) That's it for the gross stuff! But, what you should be wondering is what is in my freezer.... hehehhehee!
