Hi, I was fortunate to receive Barred Rocks from DesertMarcy just last week. They are very robust and healthy little chicks, and arrived quickly and very nicely packaged. I ordered two other Heritage breeds at the same time.

I am loving the Ecoglow! Of 47 chicks about 3/4 prefer it. The rest seem to hang out near the heat lamp on the other end of the brooder.

How high in inches would you set the Ecoglow 50 for new chicks? Are their backs supposed to touch the bottom of the radiating plate??

This sounds like excellent advice. I also agree with the previous poster that permanent damage could be inflicted , and so, I believe I would consider wearing eye protection at the least.

Nicol, sounds like great advice to get some experience and then a quad. I think I should just start with some chicks and general experience. You have a lot of roos?? lol...How do you separate your roosters,hens, and chicks?Do you have at least two pens?Yeah, the GNHs are really pretty.
