Thanks for the info, much appreciated. As all the hens are fed the same layer pellets and corn/peas etc I think it maybe due to feather re-growth after being freed from the factory producing the same effect as molting. One hen is worse than the others. Again 5 eggs today with one soft broken...
I have rescued 5 battery hens. All five hens lay eggs but one has a very thin shell which then hens break or I break. The other four eggs are perfect. Any ideas as to what is the cause?

New to keeping chickens. Have built a coup and run that you can see below. Have re-homed five battery hens, a bit bald in places but feathers starting to grow back. We are in County Antrim, Ireland. Looking forward to learning from the forum.
