Coturnix color genetics experts - Pearl genetics?

Yes thank you for the answer here as well, @Fenrisulfr. I had some overlap between the questions in my two posts (and a little bit of eagerness to find an answer as I need to thin out my male population asap!). Super helpful, I think I'm going to keep the pearl male to create some color...

    First time coturnix breeding Qs

got it. Yes, the pearl gentleman seems to be waiting for the right moment. And there are others who have not been patient at all... And thank you for your answer on the colors, fenrisulfr, our hens are mostly jumbo brown Pharoah type but we do have two Tibetan hens and I believe one Italian hen.

    First time coturnix breeding Qs

Thank you all for the quick and helpful replies. I like the idea of letting the hens decide. I haven't noticed much mounting activity from him or any aggression. What should I look for in my hens behavior if I'm letting them decide? And what do you think are no-no's for the males? I've just...

    First time coturnix breeding Qs

Hi all, I just hatched out our first set of coturnix and had a couple questions about breeding. I'm trying to decide which males to keep and these answers will hopefully help. The prettiest bird we have is a pearl male who we are deciding whether to keep as one of our two males (with about...

Coturnix color genetics experts - Pearl genetics?

Does anyone know what kind of variations I might expect from a pearl male crossed with a jumbo brown female? My birds are from southwest gamebirds, one of JMF's partner farms, if that matters. Thank you for any guidance!

I'm looking at Goncalo Moreira nearby in NJ or by mail from JM Farms or Kansas City farms. I prefer jumbo for meat and eggs but find it hard to resist...

    JMF said "QUAIL FACT THREAD"

I spoke to Robby this morning (1/16/20) and he said that he will be selling a bit differently now. As far as color birds, the only way to get them is in an assortment box of 100 eggs for $100. JMF pharaohs will be 50 eggs for $40, $100 for xx, etc. (Sorry I don't have my notes with me for all...

Australorps and speckled sussex available in NYC area?

hi. I'm in Brooklyn and looking for a source for sexed Australorp and speckled sussex day old chicks. Didn't find anything in the BYC breeder directory and the two local sources I've found are pretty much just large operations that buy and get shipments from unknown sources around the area...
