Ditto on James statement. Raccoons tend to run in groups. I have had six or more in my barn at one time. When I fixed the pens so they couldn't reach them, they started tearing feeders apart and eating bird food. They are tough ones to deal with. I am building another barn to put my cages in.. -

I agree with buttonquailtx, when I use white light my white birds will deflesh each other. Just switching to a red light calms them greatly. They become very docile almost instantly. It was a hard lessons to learn. -

My birds are on wire and just drop eggs wherever, I have heard others comment that if your birds are on wire and you give them a sand box to dust in they will tend to lay in the sand box. I've tried that but it doesn't seem to make any difference with mine. -

I bought 100 from him last early winter. 50 A&Ms and same number of his James Marie meat birds. Received 104 eggs, hatched 80. 40 of each type. They grew fast didn't loose one till butcher time, kept half of each for breeding. I am very happy with these birds. -

I agree with the high % protein. 30 is best if you can get it. I raised a batch on 24% and a batch on 30%. Out of the same hatch and the difference in how fast they matured was very marked. I don't believe you'll go wrong with James Marie. If you follow accepted guidelines for incubation you'll get at least a reasonable hatch and he is quite knowledgeable. He also keeps a great line of A&M's. -

Update, one week later, several males are now crowing, but still no eggs. Just one or two in the A&Ms. I may not have many hens in the A&Ms. So far I have banded 18 cocks out of 38 birds and several that are left are small bird so I am afraid they are cocks. In the other batch that are not A&Ms...
