Hova bator 1588 humidity too high?

Wet bulb reads 96 and dry reads 100. I have just the middle trough filled? Can I put my eggs in or is this too high? I’m putting goose eggs in. Do I need to wash the goose eggs before I set them in. I do not have an electric turner, and I’m getting mixed opinions on how often to turn. Any...

Incubating goose eggs under a chicken??

I can see a turkey being able to turn a goose egg, but these goose eggs are 3 times the size of a chicken egg, are chickens big enough to handle that? Also, geese are wetter birds, the humidity is naturally higher, right?

Incubating goose eggs under a chicken??

im not even sure if I have a broody hen, so I’m working on seeing if I do, but let’s say I do. I understand the process but I live in Maine and it’s still frosty out here! We had one bird not make it back to the coop one night and she froze! So sad! So I’m not sure about separating the broody...

    Hatching shipped Jersey Giants

One thing I have always done is turn the eggs every twelve hours to ensure no sticking to the eggshell. Where they are end up, I’m not sure if this applies, but I have always been told to turn them twice a day even before they go into the incubator. Another tip is, set the incubator up and have...

    Dumb chickens?

Gotcha! My chickens love their coop too much. I have to convince them to go out and forage sometimes, but I do worry about those silly wyandottes. Some times I'm just watching them and I can't help but wonder if they've got a bag over their heads or something! I just can't believe it. but I...

    Dumb chickens?

Hmmm...wasn't trying to start anything personal! My main concern is that the only chickens that behave this way are the wyandottes. I find that strange that all five of them seem dumb and belligerent at times while none of my other hens do anything like it! Just got me to wondering if the...
