I want to attach a coop to my off-grid cabin in AK to heat coop for free. Stupid?

Some have had black spots on their combs or the very tips on a couple have turned white. I assumed both mean frostbite?

I want to attach a coop to my off-grid cabin in AK to heat coop for free. Stupid?

No electricity or solar etc. cabin is heated by a wood stove. I’m considering making my screen porch into a coop and having some kind of one way fan in the wall to take the heat from the house to the coop. Am definitely not a construction person so if there is a down side to this please let me...

    Coop Predator Proofing

I once received advice to do the same with the bottom of the “L” on the outside of the fence. So maybe 2’...

What kind of chickens do you have? I live off-grid which can be a real challenge with the chix during the winter. Sometimes 30-60 below for extended periods. How are your Toronto winters?

I sure hope that’s not the case with this little guy. Sounds like he’s a bit feisty. My grand-daughter has already gotten wind of this possible new addition to the flock and has named him “Hero”. No going back now I’m afraid. Thanks for the response!

    Greetings from Alaska!

I’m not new to hens but have never had a rooster. Have 17 Buff Orpington and Barred Rock hens and am contemplating adding a 6 month old Bantam rooster. The hens are almost 2 years old. There are a couple hens that act like roosters, so I figure they need a guy to set them straight... so to...
