I am just really disappointed in the small size of the Barred Rock's eggs. My ISAs lay huge egg and hardly ever miss a day. I've measured some of Bertha's and she cranks out some 3" long and 2" wide. Ouch!

I have the exact same situation. 6 ISA Browns, 6 Barred Rocks. ISAs cranking out big dark brown eggs every day. Barred Rocks are laying every day but much smaller and lighter color. I sell eggs on the honor system out by the road and it's embarrassing to put out the little ones. I got them...

That makes sense, except I can find articles about ISA Browns that claim they are sweet, gentle and a perfect hen children's pets. Just notmy experience.

I know. I was being a little dramatic. I've had other breeds that were fine. Actually my last batch of ISAs didn't do this, so seeing them all torn up was kind of surprising. Thanks for your thoughts.

I got 12 ISA Browns ago from Tractor Supply. They started laying at 6 months and cranked out an egg almost every day. Unbelievable number of jumbo brown eggs. The literature says 285 eggs a year. Phooy! I got 10 to 12 eggs every day! Had one measure 2" wide and 3" long. The only problem...
