they are edible.best to soak them in salt water for about an hour before cooking.
but it must be fully cooked to kill any parasites.
as far as dressing it out,as with any game,wear a pair of rubber gloves and you'll be fine.
i dont blame you!one more tip i can give you,mix dry catfood with peanut butter.next cut the toe out of a old white sock about 7 inches from the end.put the catfood/peanut butter in the toe of the sock(about 2 spoons full)and tie it up.then tie the whole thing to the inside top of the trap...
