    Gender help

Thank you everyone! The comb and lack of tail feathers was making me second guess myself. But I was thinking because of how early and bright his wattles came in was male. I got eggs from a neighbor for my broody hen the neighbors chickens are Orpingtons, Olive Eggers, Barred Rocks and Brama. His...

    Splay leg?

He only sat that way when we first moved him. He can get up and walk a little. He can fly short distances as well. After straightening himself he sits normal looking. He is very alert just prefers not to move much. He’s eating and drinking fine. He is 7 weeks old. I have him inside the house in...

    Splay leg?

I noticed this poor guy walking funny so I brought him inside. I noticed that he sits like this. Is this splay leg? I started him on vitamin water. There’s no avian vet near me and I’ve never seen this before so I wanted guidance from someone with more knowledge.

Gender and breed? 7 weeks old.

5 was a front view of number 4. Hopefully I’ll be able to find homes for the boys. I can probably only keep one. I have others hatched that I know are a boy and girl because they are identical except one has no comb or wattles and the one with comb and wattles has the green shine in his feathers.

Gender and breed? 7 weeks old.

These babies were hatched in my kindergarten class from donated eggs. I know the fuzzy white one is a silkie and the one red and black is an turkin. Not sure about the others. Not sure of sex for any of them. Hatch date was May 15.

    Breed and gender help

I got some eggs from a neighbor for my broody girl. They are 10 weeks old and I’m not sure what I have. I’m hoping pullets but I’m thinking at least one is a cockerel

They are both crowing now. The person I bought them from is supposed to be trading them for hens since they were supposed to be ladies when I bought them.

    Gender help

I know that the breed is legbar. When I purchased them I was told hens. I am pretty positive that the white one is a rooster since his comb and waddles have tripled in size over the past week or so. Plus he is now beginning to crow. The brown one I’m not sure at all. I got 3 of them together the...

Dog fennel for chicken run floor

Hello everyone! So tropical storm Debby just showed me I need to build up my chicken run floor. I was hoping that there might be options growing in my yard already that could be cut up and placed in there. I have a ton of the dog fennel weeds growing and thought they would work but I wanted to...

    Gender help!

I want to thank everyone for your suggestions. I'm definitely not going to keep all 3. I might only keep 1. But leaning more to not keeping any. the safety of my girls and kids are more important.

This was a little scary lol

Two of my legbars decided to fly up on my shoulders. I was a little scared since I’m a new chicken mom. I was told they are hens from the breeder. Has this happened to anyone else?
