    Inside or outside??

I have Seramas and Silkies outside but weather in southwest PA is cold. Highs in low 20s and single digits overnight. Their coop has a heat panel. Don’t know if I should be bringing them in or if they’ll be ok staying out. Don’t want them to get used to warm basement and go into “shock” when I...

    Incubating Serama eggs

This is my first time incubating Serama eggs. I’m incubating 12 eggs in 2 Brinsea’s I’ve read they can hatch earlier than the normal 21 days (18?) My question is if this is the case when should I lockdown?

    Relocating broody hen

After assuming my speckled Sussex hen succumbed to a predator I found her yesterday laying on lots of eggs. She had been “missing” for 10 days and I was ecstatic to find her (she’s my shadow!) The problem is the place where she picked to nest is not in the safest area for newborn chicks. She’s...

I have 3 eight week old peachicks I got them at 2 days old. They are in a large enclosure in our basement. I have put them in an outside pen several times in past 2 wks but now the weather has taken a nosedive into the lower 30’s. I really don’t want them in my basement til spring as I don’t...

Transitioning chicks from brooder to outside

I recently bought 2 cream legbar pullets. They are now close to 6 wks old. I've been putting them outside during the day but not sure when to leave them out all night. PA weather is dropping to low 40s this wk and will drop to freezing next wk. Is it ok to leave them in coop (separate small coop...

    Missing duck

I have 3 Ancona ducks. The hen went missing 3 days ago. She has done this one other time and reappeared after 3 days. Is it possible she went off the hatch eggs? Has anyone had this experience?

     Mixed flock

I have chickens ranging in age from 5 months to 18 months. I also have several ducks that are 8 weeks old. Is there one feed that would be nutritionally adequate for the entire flock? They all free range all day
