buy an electric fence charger and run wire about 3 inches from the ground... i use a light switch to turn mine off during the day when i let my birds out...critters don't like electricity..
Has anyone else gotten any of the new mute guineas?
Actually at a church function I had a friend that loved guineas but not the racket convinced of this new breed. Until his wife elbowed him.
One of the earliest incubators were egg coats that Chinese women wore to incubate eggs. They had a lot of pockets to keep the eggs apart and body heat incubated them. It required sleeping on their backs and not rolling though. LOL
With just 1 rooster you are lucky that’s all he is doing. Most like to bow up against something to impress the lady’s. With 2 roosters they will pretty much compete with each other and not you. That being said I have way too many roosters and the one Banty that bows up at me very occasionally...
Washing hands works. Good luck with the reds. They are great layers but roam way to much for free range. My last one dissapeared 2 weeks ago. My other hens stay closer to home.
I keep my incubator in an unused bathroom with the door shut to maintain temp better. Good luck with selling eggs and young birds. 100 quail will eat s lot of expensive food quickly and when grown probably 3 to 5 lbs a day or more.
I added another layer to my desktop incubator. The top layer stays at 100 degrees and hatches at 16 days. The 2nd layer stays at 98 to 99 and hatches on day 17. Both hatch good but the lower temp slows the process down a little.
